SchneemanIf elected to the RTM, I’ll work hard and work smart to: 1. Maintain and enhance the distinctive qualities that make Westport unique and attract people to live and work here. We must continue to invest in our schools, parks and recreation, arts and culture, and support our seniors. I believe we can do this even in tight fiscal times if we make smart choices. 2. Focus on quality of life. Improving traffic, beach conditions, and walkability/livability in our neighborhoods is paramount. I think we can do a better job prioritizing projects and developing creative solutions to getting them done. |

He is a member of the Fairfield County branch of Democracy for America, and Sal currently serves on the Citizens’ Transit Committee. He is also active in both the Downtown Merchants Association and the Democratic Town Committee. He is often invited to Hartford by party leaders and provides a valued opinion on multiple issues. Sal has also volunteered on numerous political campaigns such as U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy D-Conn, U.S. Representative Jim Himes D-Conn., along with both local and state campaigns. Liccione now works for the Downtown Merchants’ Association... |

HellerBased on my 16 years of experience on the RTM, the challenge is, as always providing a range of resources to serve our citizens well. The two most important issues the RTM must address are preserving our fiscal strength and sustaining the quality of life that Westporters expect. I provide a voice of reason as we scrutinize budgets to balance priorities for the town. As RTM Moderator, Deputy Moderator, Education Committee Chair and District 9 representative, I advocate for excellent schools, beach and recreational infrastructure, senior center, public safety including walkways and traffic control, historic preservation and environmental protection. |

CareyFirst, and foremost, we must maintain the sound fiscal position of the Town. The RTM cannot resolve the state’s fiscal crisis but we must responsibly budget our resources. Our schools and the residential environment of our town must be maintained while we address these financial issues. Second, we need to maintain two iconic landmarks in Town, Compo Beach and the Cribari Bridge. The first will require a comprehensive review of current usage of the beach and possible changes to how we manage the beach and the second will require overcoming efforts by the state to enlarge or replace Cribari Bridge. |

SoloffAs the fiscal crisis in Hartford inevitably begins to impact Westport, it will be imperative that the RTM work to support and sustain a relevant and progressive school system. I will promote smart spending while recognizing that ongoing investment in our schools is part of the heart and soul of Westport. The vitality of downtown will evolve as a more pressing issue as the future of retail becomes less certain. I will encourage those initiatives that have a vision for downtown as more than just a shopping destination, but also a gathering place for recreation, art, music, and innovation. |
